Police Week included ceremonies honoring the outstanding work of law enforcement officers as well as , candlelight vigils, and memorial services honoring those who gave their lives. Rep. Neese attended a memorial ceremony held at the Indiana State Police Post in Bremen, Indiana. The ceremony held at the Indiana State Police Post in Bremen remembered those who served in the police force. Police officer’s killed in the line of duty while serving the state of Indiana were recognized through a public reading of their names followed by a memorial service. “I am privileged to join in recognizing those outstanding law enforcement officers who dedicated their lives for our country and our state,” said Rep. Tim Neese. “The demands are great and the sacrifices are vast for our police, and I, along with the state of Indiana, have the utmost respect and gratitude for them.” National Police Week is celebrated annually to recognize the sacrifice of U. S. law enforcement officers whose lives were lost in the line of duty. In 1962 a proclamation was made by the U. S. government designating the date of May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls is celebrated as National Police Week. “It is critical to join together in thanking law enforcement and their courageous work in keeping Indiana safe, and Hoosiers have been able to do just that during National Police Week,” Rep.
