The company will be relocating from Coburg, Ore. to Wakarusa, Ind. Currently employing more than 250 Indiana workers in the existing plant in Wakarusa, the company manufactures recreational vehicles under the brand names Holiday Rambler, Monaco Coach, Beaver, Safari, McKenzie and R-Vision. “This is great news for Elkhart County,” said Rep. Neese. “I am pleased to the expansion of Monaco RV in Indiana and applaud the company for bringing job opportunities to Hoosiers throughout the Elkhart County area.” According to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Monaco RV’s announcement is part of multiple companies’ announcements this summer to relocate to Elkhart County. Special Metals Corporation announced plans to relocate to Elkhart from Illinois, creating up to 100 jobs by 2014. Spartan Motors also announced relocation plans in June, moving from Michigan to Wakarusa and creating up to 60 new jobs by 2012. “This week’s relocation announcement reflects how Indiana continues to help businesses expand and add more jobs,” said Rep. Neese. “I hope to continue to see Elkhart County attract more companies and provide the people of Indiana further job opportunities.” Legislation was passed by the General Assembly this session that also continues to aid in creating economic growth to foster job creation. The legislation includes HEA 1006, which promotes economic development locally and regionally and HEA 1007, which allows enhanced abatement schedules and hiring incentives to encourage local job growth. |
