“I was pleased to receive the Watchdog Indiana group’s support,” said Rep. Neese. “With the continued demands on Indiana families, I along with others in the General Assembly, strived to pass legislation providing Hoosier’s with policies to use their tax dollars wisely and continue to provide government transparency.” The title of ‘Taxpayer Friendly Legislator’ was given out by ‘Watchdog Indiana’, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that focuses on Indiana taxes and provides fiscal information on the state of Indiana’s revenues, spending, and long-term debt assumption. The Watchdog Indiana organization provides ratings of state legislators and the governor based on the legislator’s key legislative proposals from 2002 to the present. A key piece of legislation that earned Rep. Neese the title of ‘Taxpayer Friendly Legislator’ includes passing the biennial state budget, House Bill 1001, which keeps taxes low to promote economic growth and maintains a sufficient amount of funding in our reserve account. “This session we worked tirelessly to pass a biennial state budget, passing a balanced budget that does not raise taxes on Hoosiers,” said Rep. Tim Neese. “The budget we passed continues our focus on fiscal discipline and ultimately our focus on protecting Hoosier taxpayers.” Further legislation included in the criteria for the ‘Taxpayer Friendly Legislator’ title included House Bill 1074 which addresses school board elections and House Bill 1583 which deals in homeowner’s property taxes, both of which Rep. Neese voted yes for. -30- |
