Rep. Neese appointed Chairman of Local Government STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. Rep. Tim Neese (R-Elkhart) has been selected to serve as the Chairman of the Local Government committee. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year. “I am excited and look forward to serving as the chairman of this committee,” said Rep. Neese. “I will look to continue to build on our work of ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of local government. Every unit of government should be a good fiscal steward of Hoosiers hard-earned tax dollars.” In addition to his chairmanship appointment, Rep. Neese will also serve on the Environmental Affairs and Utilities and Energy committees. Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor. “I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma. -30- Rep.
