Last year, Rep. Neese joined the National Rifle Association's (NRA) amicus brief in this case, exhibiting his support for the NRA and its philosophy protecting the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. "Today's ruling is a sound victory for lawful gun owners nationwide," said Rep. Neese. "The Supreme Court has acted to protect the rights of gun owners and I am proud to have signed onto the NRA's brief to support the Second Amendment." The laws passed by the City of Chicago and the Village of Oak Park in Illinois completely banned hand guns. Although in a case two years ago, the Supreme Court had protected an individual's right to possess guns, that decision applied to self-defense in the home and only applied to federal laws.
