STATEHOUSE – The Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s annual Legislative Vote Analysis ranked Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) as one of the highest voting records for state lawmakers during the 2011 session with a score of 94 percent. He had the highest score among Vigo County lawmakers.

This is evidenced by the large number of job-friendly House bills introduced and passed by the House Republicans.

“I am thankful to receive such a ranking for the 2011 legislative session,” said Rep. Heaton. “We worked hard to pass legislation that further strengthens our economy and creates an environment to foster job creation.  I am grateful to be one part of the House Republican Caucus whose focus was to work on legislation that seeks to strengthen the State of Indiana.”

The Chamber’s Vote Analysis is produced after every legislative session. The legislator’s scores are determined by bills and select amendments’ impact on the state’s economy.

Some pieces of legislation included in the analysis that the Indiana Chamber highlights was: HEA 1004, which increases access to start-up capital for Indiana businesses in addition to lowering the corporate income tax rate; HEA 1006, which promotes economic development locally and regionally; and HEA 1007, which allows enhanced abatement schedules and hiring incentives to encourage local job growth.

“The legislation we passed sends a strong message that we aim to see Indiana’s economy and businesses flourish to see Indiana continue to prosper,” said Rep. Heaton.
