STATEHOUSE — State Representative Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) is pleased to announce that Mad 4 My Dog (M4MD) Training, LLC was one of 20 Hoosier businesses to receive the Economic Development and Growth through Entrepreneurship (EDGE) Award. During a ceremony held at the Indiana Statehouse, Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann presented the awards honoring small businesses that have made a sizable economic impact in Hoosier communities.
“I’m pleased that Mad 4 My Dog received the EDGE Award as it provides a unique service and considerable benefit to communities in West Central Indiana, specifically Bloomington,” said Rep. Heaton. “I was honored to be able to present this award and personally congratulate Mad 4 My Dog owner and trainer Madalyn Moorman on all of her success. As a dog owner myself, I know they are more than just companions, they are members of our family. So, I’m glad that we have this business that works to create a better environment and support that special bond we share with our canines.”
According to their website, M4MD is celebrating its 10th year anniversary since its inception. Owned and operated by Madalyn Moorman, a dog trainer for over a decade, the business began in Madalyn’s home and is dedicated to helping dog owners effectively communicate with their canine companions.
Based in Bloomington, the company only uses training techniques safe for dogs and is recommended and used by several local veterinarians, rescue-shelters and other trainers. M4MD offers a variety of classes for training purposes, enjoyment or even competition including: Puppy Preschool, Basic Foundation, Tricks and Fun, Agility, Rally Obedience, Scent-work and Therapy/Service Dog Prep Course to list a few.
"It really feels incredible to receive this honor in the 10th anniversary year of starting my business,” said Moorman. “Having my small business has allowed me to have children and take time when I needed to over the last decade, but when I finally decided to take the next step and grow its size and offerings, I had all the help and resources I needed at the SBDC in Bloomington –specifically my contact Troy Phelps who was and continues to be an incredible help. My drive, creativity, and determination, coupled with the helpful staff and resources available at the SBDC, have made the growth in my business smooth and thrilling!"
The EDGE Awards are given by the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) to organizations that are either established like M4MD or emerging small businesses. These awards are presented each year to 20 small businesses that have accomplished measurable economic impact in Indiana communities.
“Small businesses are the backbone of the economy by creating jobs and providing high-quality goods and services,” said Rep. Heaton.
