(STATEHOUSE) Feb. 5, 2008 - Child predators will soon receive harsher punishments with the passage of House Bill 1134. House Bill 1134 includes Rep. Steuerwald's (R-Hendricks County) language from House bill 1141, which classifies child-molesting as a Class B felony if a person uses force or threatens to use force on a child.

House of Representative unanimously passed the bill on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and has been referred to the Senate Committee on Corrections, Criminal and Civil Matters.
"This bill fills a gap in the child-molestation statute," said Rep. Steuerwald. "The Hendricks County prosecutor asked me address this issue, and I believe that the General Assembly has."
