STATEHOUSE- House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House of Representatives.
State Rep. Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon) has been reappointed to serve as Chairman for two committees, the Judiciary Committee and the Ethics Committee. He has also been reappointed as the Assistant Majority Caucus Chair, which is responsible for assisting in the management of personnel, operation and organization of the House Majority Caucus.
“I am honored to be reappointed as Chairman of both the Judiciary and Ethics Committees,” said Rep. Steuerwald. “I look forward to serving in these leadership capacities, especially as Chairman of the Judiciary and Ethics committees, so that I can address many of the issues facing Hoosiers all across the state.”
Committee chairmen, caucus leaders and committee assignments are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year. Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“I look forward to working on this year’s comprehensive ethics reform, which is a facet of our 2015 legislative agenda,” said Rep. Steuerwald. “Our goal is to safeguard public trust by strengthening Indiana’s disclosure laws and increasing transparency. I am committed to working towards that goal.”
In addition to his leadership roles, Rep. Steuerwald will serve as a member of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee and the Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee.
