STATEHOUSE – State Representatives Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) and Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) joined Governor Mike Pence and Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann this morning on a tour of some of the cities damaged by yesterday’s severe weather.

“Our prayers are with the families dealing with the aftermath of this terrible situation,” Rep. Karickhoff said. “Many thanks go out to the emergency responders who acted so quickly and bravely last night. Not too long ago we faced a similar scenario with the flood. We handled it then, and I have no doubt that we will be able to come together once again to rebuild our communities.”

The governor was also joined by U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, Sen. Joe Donnelly, the Executive Director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security John Hill and Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight in Kokomo and Logansport Mayor Ted Franklin in Logansport.

“The physical damage of the storm has taken a toll on people, businesses, shops and homes,” said Rep. VanNatter. “Kokomo is a strong community, and I am confident that everyone will come together to rebuild what was lost. It is encouraging to see our governor pledging state resources to help in this effort, and I look forward to seeing how the city of Kokomo uses this holiday season to lend a hand to neighbors for support and encouragement during this difficult time.”

More information will be released following the damage assessment of Indiana communities affected by Sunday’s storms.
