This week, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce released scores for all state legislators based on certain votes cast during the 2013 legislative session. I was honored to receive a 92 percent from the Chamber for this session bringing my aggregate score to 93 percent.
The Chamber’s Vote Analysis has been produced for the past 29 years after every legislative session. Legislators' scores are determined by their votes on certain bills and amendments where the outcome on the state’s economy would have an impact on Indiana businesses.
This year, the Chamber graded the entire General Assembly on several bills, including the budget, various tax reform bills, the Indiana Career Council and a few bills that would increase opportunities for Hoosiers to access a high quality education.
I am determined to find ways to improve our state's appeal for people wanting to start a family and find a rewarding job. Having a fiscally responsible lean government lays the groundwork for economic success, which is evident in the General Assembly's work to lower the tax burden facing Hoosiers. Indiana has a regulatory environment that is conducive to business growth and is a major factor in our state's continued prosperity.
I appreciate the Chamber's recognition of my efforts to make Indiana the best state in the nation to go to school, get a job and raise a family.
