STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) was appointed to three different House Committees, including one vice chairmanship.

Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.

Rep. VanNatter was appointed to the following committees:

• Utilities & Energy (Vice Chairman)
• Environmental Affairs
• Local Government

“It is an honor to be appointed a leadership position on the Utilities & Energy Committee,” said Rep. VanNatter. “I look forward to having an active role on all three of these committees, as we will have the opportunity to closely examine issues that arise during session and make necessary changes for the betterment of Indiana.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
