(STATEHOUSE) Jan. 28, 2009-State Rep. Jacque Clements (R-Frankfort) was awarded the 2008 Working Woman Award at the Chamber of Commerce in Clinton County last Thursday night.

"I feel incredibly honored to have been awarded this prestige award," said Rep. Clements.

"Going to the dinner that night, I had no idea that I was going to be honored for this award. When they said my name as the honoree, I was stunned with tears welling up in my eyes."

The Chamber of Commerce nominates members of the Clinton County community to receive the Working Woman of the Year Award. The person with the most nominations is honored with the award.

Rep. Clements has been nominated for the past three years.

Many applications were taken into consideration for this year's Working Woman of the Year Award. Chamber members were encouraged to vote for someone whom they think shows great skill and leadership within the community. When a Chamber member nominates someone, he or she lists reasons as to why the nominee should receive the award, along with characteristics the nominee demonstrates.

"It was the surprise of the night. I truly was shocked to receive the award. There is nothing more rewarding than having the people I work around and who I work with to nominate me. I was graced with a wonderful staff."

Rep. Clements served as Clinton County auditor before she was elected as a state representative in November.

Rep. Clements encourages local constituents to contact her with questions or concerns through e-mail at h38@in.gov, or by calling the Statehouse at 1-800-382-9841. It is also possible to write her at 200 W. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204
