(STATEHOUSE) March 10, 2009 - Rep. Bill Davis (R-Portland) today honored the Indiana motorsports community on their many accomplishments and unveiled the 2009 Indianapolis 500 racing ticket. "Indy racing has made Indianapolis the racing capitol of the world," said Rep. Davis. "Racing has had a phenomenal impact on Indiana because of the thousands of jobs it brings to the state and the money it puts into the economy. Today, I wanted to take time to recognize how important the Indy racing organization is and all that it brings to the state of Indiana." One of the team owners included Target Chip Ganassi Racing owner Chip Ganassi. Ganassi had much appreciation for Indianapolis and the support it has given him and his racing team over the years. "When people think of IndyCar racing, they think of Indianapolis, and they should. Indianapolis is a great place and it welcomes the racing community with open arms "I can honestly say that I am going to do my part in keeping Indianapolis the racing capitol of the world." Indianapolis Motor Speedway President and Chief Operating Officer Joie Chitwood, Chip Ganassi and executives from the National Hot Rod Association participated in the ticket unveiling ceremony with Rep. Davis. The ticket features a smiling Dixon wearing the traditional winner's wreath while hoisting a bottle of milk, Dixon's No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing IndyCar and the 2009 Indianapolis 500 event logo. Indianapolis 500 tickets traditionally honor and feature the previous year's champion. The Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 24 this year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. -30- Rep.
