Rep. Davis congratulates Wapahani High for top AP pass rates
STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Bill Davis (R-Portland) is pleased to congratulate Wapahani High School, located in Selma, Ind., for being one of the top 25 schools in Indiana to achieve the goal of 25 percent or more students passing Advanced Placement (AP) courses. “This is a great success for the students, faculty and administration of Wapahani High School, who have put in many hours of hard work to achieve this goal,” said Rep. Davis. “Congratulations on attaining such high levels of academic achievement.” Representatives of Wapahani High School were honored during the 4th annual Indiana Advanced Placement Access and Success Recognition Reception on Thursday, June 28 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Twenty-five schools across Indiana were awarded for achieving an AP course pass rate of 25 percent or more. Fifteen schools were awarded and recognized for the ‘Greatest One Year Growth’ in their AP pass rates. The percentage of high school graduates passing an AP exam increased from 12.4 percent in 2010 to 14 percent in 2011. In 2009, the pass rate was 10.4 percent. This increase gave Indiana the second highest two-year growth in the nation. “Success on AP exams translates into real college savings for many students,” said Rep. Davis “Achieving high AP pass rates in our schools is an excellent goal, one that I hope many more schools in our communities can reach in the near future.” -30- |
