Rep. Davis:  City of Portland to receive funds for local project

STATEHOUSE- State Rep. Bill Davis (R-Portland) congratulates the City of Portland on receiving a grant for a project which will improve the overall quality of life in rural Indiana.

The City of Portland has been awarded $600,000 for a waste water project.  The grant will fund the construction of new waste water infrastructure.  The city will install almost 6,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer lines and 80 sanitary sewer laterals. It will also remove 2 different combined sewer overflows. The project will help the city mitigate health hazards in the Steen Addition area.  It will also complete the Boundary Pike Separation Project.

The purpose of the Community Focus Fund (CFF) grants is to improve infrastructure, health and safety, and overall quality of life in rural Indiana.

"The City of Portland is to be commended for bringing this grant money into our community," said Rep. Davis.  "I am very proud of the work our local officials put into obtaining these funds to get these very important projects underway and completed."

CFF grants are funded by the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
