STATEHOUSE – State Representative Bill Davis (R-Portland) met with the Indiana Auctioneer’s Association yesterday at the Indiana Statehouse for the 2nd Annual Auctioneers Day. The auctioneers were present for a breakfast that allowed them to mingle with their local legislators and address important policy initiatives that affect their members. “The Indiana Auctioneer’s Association is a fine group of individuals who represent Hoosiers from all over the state,” said Rep. Davis. “They contribute to the economic development of our communities in a unique way. I am glad we had the opportunity to make this connection today.” Over 30 members received updates on the current legislative session and were able to meet one-on-one with their state representative. They also had the opportunity to take a tour of the Statehouse seeing the different chambers, the governor’s and lieutenant governor’s offices, the Supreme Court and witness a day of session. “The purpose of the day was to get our members more comfortable with the legislative process,” said executive director of the Indiana Auctioneer’s Association, Kathy Baber. “I think it’s really important for members to able to make connections with their representative.” Founded in 1949, the National Auctioneers Association is the word’s largest professional association dedicate to professional auctioneers. All Indiana licensed auctioneers were invited to participate in the day’s event with the overall goal to draw as many auctioneers to Indianapolis as possible. Rep. Davis currently sits on the Indiana Auctioneers Association Board of Directors. |
