STATEHOUSE — Today, House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced updates to the House Republican committee assignments after two new members joined the caucus.

State Representative Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) was sworn in to fulfill the remainder of the term of State Rep. Bill Davis who resigned from his seat in November to serve as the Executive Director of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Rep. Beumer has been appointed to serve as a member of the following committees: Agriculture and Rural Development, Government and Regulatory Reform and Roads and Transportation.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve on these three important committees,” said Rep. Beumer. “I was born and raised in east central Indiana, and I am a strong believer in the importance of our rural communities. Serving on these committees and being at the forefront of conversations concerning agriculture, government regulation and road conditions will put me in a unique position to preserve and support rural Indiana. I look forward to the start of session and being able to get to work on the important issues facing Jay, Randolph and Delaware counties as well as Hoosiers across the state.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.
