STATEHOUSE —House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee chairmen and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus on Wednesday. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the Speaker after each election year. State Representative Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) was appointed to serve as Vice- Chairman of the Environmental Affairs Committee. “I am eager to begin working and will continue to lead with the best interest of our communities and state in mind,” said Rep. Beumer. “It is an honor to be selected as Vice-Chairman of the Environmental Affairs Committee.” Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor. “As a grandfather, I think it is extremely important that we take care of our state for future generations of Hoosiers, both fiscally and environmentally,” said Rep. Beumer. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find the solutions our state needs and deserves on some of Indiana’s most pressing environmental issues.” -30- |
