STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Bill Davis (R-Portland) is pleased to announce that the 2013 House Republican Internship Program is now accepting applications. The program is open to undergraduate and graduates students interested in working for the House of Representatives at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. “College students and graduates looking for professional work experience should consider applying for the internship,” said Rep. Davis. “This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for them to see firsthand how our state’s government works, and to add valuable and unique experiences to their resumes before they go out into the workforce.” Applicants from all academic majors are accepted. Interns will be compensated with a $700 bi-weekly stipend and are eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 Verizon scholarship. The scholarship can be applied toward educational expenses for the student’s current or future undergraduate or graduate studies. The internship will be for the entire 2013 legislative session, which begins in January and ends in April. It is a full-time internship, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Individuals interested in the internship program may consider four different concentrations when applying: member services, media, computer/technology and policy/fiscal. For a detailed description of each concentration and additional information concerning the internship program, please visit http://www.in.gov/legislative/house_republicans/intern.html. The Indiana House Republicans will accept applications for the internship program until October 31. Applications are currently being accepted online at the website listed above. Interviews will be conducted as applications are received. Applicants are encouraged to work with their school in order to obtain academic credit for the internship – most colleges and universities in Indiana offer course credit. “The internship program is one of the most renowned in the state and is an excellent opportunity to network,” said Rep. Davis. “I encourage any students or graduates interested to apply.” -30-
