STATEHOUSE – State Representative Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) was sworn in today by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Brent Dickson to serve House District 33. He will fulfill the remaining term of State Rep. Bill Davis who resigned from his seat earlier this month to serve as the Executive Director of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Rep. Beumer was joined at the ceremony by his wife, Kathy, two daughters, Alison and Kerry, two granddaughters, Erin and Logan, and two grandsons, Aaron and Cullen. “It is truly an honor to have been selected to serve our community in this capacity,” said Rep. Beumer. “Having been sworn in less than 4 hours before the start of Organization Day, I can honestly say today has been a unique and humbling experience I will never forget. This is a feeling I will carry with me as I begin my work at the Statehouse. I am eager to learn from my fellow legislators and represent the people of House District 33 on the issues they care about the most.” Rep. Beumer graduated from the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. He is an owner and partner at Beumer Consulting, LLC, a community and economic development consulting firm which is certified by the State to perform grant administration as required when cities and towns are awarded funding from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). He also teaches the grant administrator certification class for the State of Indiana as well as grant administrator continuing education courses. Rep. Beumer has served as a Randolph County Commissioner for two terms, a Region 8 Director for the former Indiana Department of Commerce, Director of Community Development for OCRA and as executive director of the Randolph Economic Development Corporation for six years. He is also a lifelong resident of the area, having grown up in Jay County. He and his wife Kathy have lived on their family farm in Modoc for the past 25 years. Speaker of the House Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) was also present at the swearing in ceremony held in the House Chamber today. “Throughout his time in the legislature, Rep. Davis always led with integrity. His leadership will be truly missed; however, I have full confidence that Rep. Beumer will serve District 33 well. As Indiana continues its tradition of quality job creation and fiscal integrity, I know that Rep. Beumer’s experience with economic development will be a tremendous asset to our state.
