“Any student with an interest in state government should consider applying to this program,” said Rep. Karickhoff. “Our internship provides students the chance to build their resumes, learn networking skills and get real work experience.” Applicants from all academic majors are accepted. Interns will be compensated with a $700 bi-weekly stipend and are eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 Verizon scholarship. The scholarship can be applied toward educational expenses for the student’s current or future undergraduate or graduate studies. The internship will be for the entire 2013 legislative session, which begins in January and ends in April. It is a full-time internship, Monday through Friday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Individuals interested in the internship program may consider four different concentrations when applying: member services, media, computer/technology and policy/fiscal. The Indiana House Republicans will accept applications for the internship program until October 31. Applications are currently being accepted online at the website listed above.
