Bill aiding motorcyclists signed in to law at ABATE of Indiana Rally
STATEHOUSE – House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1080, authored by State Representative Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo), allowing motorcycles to proceed through a steady red traffic signal under certain circumstances was signed in to law by Governor Pence during the American Bikers Aimed Toward Education of Indiana Rally at Monument Circle in Indianapolis.
“Some traffic signals cannot detect motorcycles at an intersection, causing traffic delays and unnecessary frustration for motorists,” said Rep. Karickhoff. “This legislation provides a safe, efficient method for Hoosier motorcyclists attempting to move through an intersection.”
HEA 1080 authorizes motorcyclists to proceed through intersections after waiting two minutes at an inoperable signal and can proceed with caution.
