Rep. Thompson had a special guest this week: Bridget Sloan, U.S. gymnast and a constituent from Pittsboro, Indiana!

Sloan was a member of the silver medal U.S. women's gymnastics team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and currently is the 2009 All-Around World Champion and the 2009 All-Around U.S. National Champion.  Rep. Thompson offered a resolution before the members of the House of Representatives, honoring Bridget for her many accomplishments.

Sloan was joined by her parents Mary and Jeff Sloan, USA Gymnastics Vice President of Program Kathy Kelly and USA Gymnastics President Steve Penny.

"We had the privilege of having lunch with Bridget, and I can tell you, not only is she a great gymnast, she is a great, great role model for young people," said Rep. Thompson on the House floor. "Not only is she a Tri-West high school student, with all of the responsibilities that come with that, but she is also a world champion in her sport."
