“The page program is a great opportunity for young people to serve their state and learn a great deal about the legislative process,” said Rep. Thompson. “I highly encourage any interested students to apply.” Pages will receive a tour of the Statehouse, including the Governor’s office, the House and Senate chambers and the Indiana Supreme Court. They will watch activity on the House floor and personally assist and interact with members of the House legislative staff. Participants in the page program will be excused from school the day that they serve. Pages will be responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the Statehouse. Students who are interested should schedule their visit soon, because spots fill up quickly. Pages are recommended to serve Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays because that is when House is in session. There are no pages on Fridays. If applying, students should include two different dates when they can come to the Statehouse. To sign up, visit http://www.in.gov/legislative/house_republicans/off_cms/page.html or call 1-800-382-9841. -30-
