STATEHOUSE - Wal-Mart donated $2,500 to the Peru Amateur Circus to assist in repairs to the Peru Circus Center Arena, which was damaged by fire seven months ago.
Wal-Mart Senior Manager of Public Affairs Jason Wetzel, along with state Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy), presented the check to Executive Vice President of the Peru Amateur Circus Bruce Embrey.
"Peru is noted as the circus capital of the world," said Rep. Friend (R-Macy). "This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the festival. Every year in July, Peru hosts the Circus City Festival. It's a tradition that attracts thousands every year to Peru. I am thrilled with Wal-Mart's generosity and their appreciation for one of our state's great attractions."
Grant Home Furnishings was destroyed by a fire that damaged several neighboring buildings. The fire damaged the Peru Circus Center Arena next door. The arena also suffered smoke and water damage.
