Friday, July 8, 2011

Start Date: 7/8/2011 All Day
End Date: 7/8/2011

STATEHOUSE-Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) announced today that the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to conduct a study concerning the intersection of US 31 and Airport Road in Peru, Ind.

"I have been working with INDOT for some time now, hoping to get a traffic study in place," said Rep. Friend. "As a community, we are seeing an increase in traffic at this busy intersection, which has led to more accidents occurring in that area. We had an almost fatal accident just a few weeks ago with a motorcycle and car colliding, proving something needs to be done.

"I am pleased to see INDOT making an agreement to conduct a study.  A traffic study must be completed before INDOT can determine what, if any, additional safety options need to be put in place in a given area."

Once official details about the timeframe and duration of the study have been released, Rep. Friend plans to share that information with the community.
