Rep. Bill Friend appointed as Speaker Pro Tempore
STATEHOUSE – Today, State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) was appointed by the Indiana House Majority Caucus to the leadership role of Speaker Pro Tempore. “I would like to thank Speaker Bosma for the appointment to Speaker Pro Tempore and also for the confidence he has placed in me,” said Rep. Friend. “I look forward to working with the Speaker as well as every member of the House of Representatives to accomplish our agenda, which will strengthen Indiana for Hoosier families. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve in this capacity.” Rep. Friend was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1992 and has served as the Republican Floor Leader since 2002. In his new role, as House Speaker Pro Tempore, Rep. Friend may perform the duties and responsibilities of the Speaker of the House in his absence. “Unlike other states, Indiana has a healthy, thriving economy, and we continue to receive national attention as one of the top states to do business,” said Rep.
