Harrah's Entertainment Inc. Donates

$2,500 to Peru Amateur Circus

(STATEHOUSE) January 16, 2009 - Harrah's Entertainment Inc. donated $2,500 to the Peru Amateur Circus to assist in repairs to the Peru Circus Center Arena, which was damaged by fire seven months ago.

Baker and Daniels attorney Joe Smith, on behalf of Harrah's Entertainment Inc., along with state Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy), presented the check to Bruce Embrey, executive vice president of the Peru Amateur Circus.

"Peru is noted as the circus capital of the world," said Rep. Friend (R-Macy). "This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the festival. Every year in July, Peru hosts the Circus City Festival.  It's a tradition that attracts thousands every year to Peru.  I am thrilled with Harrah's generosity and their appreciation for one of our state's great attractions."

Grant Home Furnishings was destroyed by a fire that damaged several neighboring buildings. The fire damaged the Peru Circus Center Arena next door.  The arena also suffered smoke and water damage.

The Peru Amateur Circus City Festival is scheduled for July 11 through 18 this year celebrating the 50th anniversary.
