Rep. Dermody remarks on House passage of state budget

The following is a statement from State Rep. Tom Dermody (R-LaPorte) in response to the House's passage of the state budget, House Bill 1001:

STATEHOUSE - "I am very pleased that we were able to pass the budget despite all of the events that happened over the last few weeks," said Rep. Dermody. "This budget is vital to Hoosiers, Hoosier businesses and to the state, and it is important that the budget be responsible.

"The budget reflects what Hoosiers are being forced to do across the state, and that is living within our means.  In doing so, we are ensuring that the state stays in healthy shape and will have a balanced budget by the end of the 2013 fiscal year, and we have been able to manage this without raising taxes and without making any cuts to our K-12 education, which is vital in educating our future working Hoosiers and entrepreneurs. We've accomplished this in a bipartisan manner, and Indiana will continue to lead the nation out of the recession."
