Rep. Dermody creates more jobs for Hoosiers
STATEHOUSE - A bill authored by State Representative Tom Dermody (R-LaPorte) that gives a price preference for Indiana businesses passed unanimously through the House on Thursday.
House Bill 1183 expands on current Indiana laws that give price preferences for purchases made by state agencies for supplies from an Indiana business. HB1183 gives a further preference for supplies that are actually manufactured or assembled in Indiana by an Indiana business. Additionally, it provides a higher price preference for agricultural products grown, produced, or processed in Indiana.
"This bill is great for Hoosier businesses and working Hoosiers," said Rep. Dermody. "By allowing these price preferences for Indiana businesses and Hoosier goods, we are supporting the businesses that are vital to our economy and allowing them to grow and create more jobs for our Hoosiers."
The bill passed by a vote of 94-0 and now moves to the Senate for consideration.
