STATEHOUSE – “Although the 2014 legislative session is over, the work we are doing to improve our community and state is just beginning. I’m proud of what was accomplished this year, especially in such a short amount of time, to address critical issues facing Hoosiers families in Northwest Indiana. At the start of session, the House Republicans sought to promote preschool education, strengthen our workforce development efforts, reduce taxes, improve Indiana’s transportation system and cut red tape for Hoosier business. I’m pleased we were able to deliver on these promises.

“As a business owner and co-chairman of the Small Business Caucus, one major accomplishment this session was passing House Bill 1005, which is one of the largest government reduction bills in our state’s history. It can be challenging to start a business, and unfortunately, some business owners have mentioned to me that they would not have started business today knowing the current environment. Indiana made strides this year to remove needless regulations and consolidate and streamline the Indiana Code to increase government efficiency. Not only will this bill save businesses time and money, it also will help our government resolve Hoosier concerns more quickly.”

Rep. Dermody represents portions of LaPorte and Starke counties.
