The "Legislator of the Year" Award is given to state legislators who are ALEC members in good standing and have distinguished themselves by taking a leadership role in advancing, introducing and/or enacting policies based on the fundamental Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism and individual liberty.
"As a long standing member of the ALEC community, it is a true honor to be given such a distinguished award," said Rep. Wolkins. "As a state elected official, I have always been committed to less government and protecting property rights-two items that are fundamental to ALEC's priorities."
"I am pleased to recognize Rep. Dave Wolkins as a 'Legislator of the Year,' and would like to thank him for his outstanding dedication to our organization," said ALEC National Chairman Noble Ellington. "He is to be commended for his leadership, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such committed individuals like him over the past year."
State legislators, policy experts and private-sector leaders gathered for this year's ALEC meeting to hear from national leaders and renowned policy experts in order to gather new ideas to better serve their home state and communities.
