Rep. Slager to serve on Public Health and Ways and Means Committees STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) has announced updates to the House Republican committee assignments after former Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) was sworn in as the new State Auditor on Jan. 2, 2014.
State Representative Hal Slager (R-Schereville) will now serve on the Public Health Committee, which is responsible for ensuring the strength of Indiana’s health care system. Slager will also continue serving on the Ways and Means Committee, which is responsible for addressing all fiscal policy in the House of Representatives.
“I am very honored and excited to begin my role as a member of the Public Health committee,” said Rep. Slager. “Given the number of hospitals and Medicaid recipients in Northwest Indiana, I believe this appointment helps me to even better represent the people of District 15 and northwest Indiana.”
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
