Rep. Hal Slager appointed to national Budget and Revenue Committee

STATEHOUSE - State Rep. Hal Slager (R-Schererville) has been appointed to serve on the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Budgets and Revenue Committee for the 2013-2014 biennium.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work on fiscal issues with a wide range of individuals from around the country. I look forward to learning in this new role and being able to bring my experiences on the Ways and Means Committee, which helped craft Indiana’s biennial budget, to a national forum,” said Rep. Slager.

The NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories.  The NCSL Budgets and Revenue Committee is one of 10 NCSL standing committees. The committees are an integral part of the organization’s purpose, the facilitation of policy innovation and information exchange. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues.

“During session, I enjoyed working with other lawmakers to develop ideas to move our state forward upon a base of fiscal stability. This new role will give me the chance to hear from other individuals that have helped craft their own state’s budgets, learning what worked and what did not. I am eager to bring my own ideas to the table in a collaborative effort that will benefit Indiana and states across the nation.”
