STATEHOUSE (Oct. 12, 2018) – State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) recently welcomed fourth-grade students from South Central Elementary School to the Indiana Statehouse to discuss his role as a state legislator.
Students, parents and teachers toured government offices, learned about Indiana’s state history and experienced what it is like to be a House member during the legislative session by sitting at the lawmakers’ desks in the House Chamber.
“Learning about state government is important in helping young students to become more engaged in our civic process,” Pressel said. “This is a great way for them to learn how a law is made. Students and community members are always welcomed to visit their Capitol building.”
Pressel said community members who would like to schedule a tour with him can email firstname.lastname@example.org. Private and self-guided tours are also available Monday through Saturday with the Statehouse Tour Office. For more information, visit www.in.gov/idoa or call 317-233-5293.
