Note to the Press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) in your coverage of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s legislative agenda announcement. Pressel will work on bills that would improve safety efforts in construction zones with technology and prohibit the use of a handheld telecommunications device while operating a moving vehicle:

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2019) – “Indiana is known across the nation as the Crossroads of America and safety of motorists is a top priority. I have worked diligently on work zone safety and distracted driving legislation the last several years, and it is encouraging to have the governor’s support on this critical public safety issue.

“I will also be working on a bill to protect consumers from unexpected and often expensive medical costs. When a patient receives care at an in-network facility, they expect to be covered by insurance. Currently, some patients who go to an in-network provider and are seen by an out-of-network physician get stuck with a higher than anticipated medical bill. I look forward to working on these bills and others in what I know will be a productive legislative session.”
