STATEHOUSE (June 20, 2018) — State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) was recently selected to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Commerce and Economic Development.

Pressel said summer study committees examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and recommend potential legislation.

“Summer study committees allow us to take a closer look at important issues through gathering public testimony as well as testimony from experts in the field,” Pressel said. “As a business owner, I feel that I bring insight to the table that could be helpful in addressing the topic of strengthening Gary’s economy, which has been assigned to our committee.”

Pressel said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
