STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2020) – State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) was recently appointed to serve on the House Ways and Means and the House Environmental Affairs Committee.
As a member of Ways and Means, Prescott will play a key role in enacting the state's next $34 billion biennial budget.
"Having a fiscally responsible budget has put Indiana in a better place than most other states, even during these unprecedented times," Prescott said. "I am committed to upholding our state's sound fiscal standing and helping pass an honestly balanced budget that Hoosier taxpayers deserve."
Prescott said as a member of the House Environmental Affairs Committee, he will be able to draw on his experience as a farmer.
"This committee looks at a number of issues related to our state's waterways, regulatory matters, land and so much more," Prescott said. "There are always a lot of moving parts, and I am ready to get to work fully vetting the bills assigned to this committee."
He said House standing committees will meet throughout the legislative session, which is scheduled to kick off Jan. 4. Access committee hearings, calendars and agendas online at iga.in.gov. Visit IndianaHouseRepublicans.com or click here for the full list of House standing committee appointments.
