Note to the press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) on the Indiana Department of Transportation's planned road revitalization project downtown Portland along Meridian Street. Prescott was notified by INDOT that the project is expected to be redesigned. More details on the redesign are expected once planning is finalized by INDOT officials:

STATEHOUSE (April 22, 2022) – "It's important for Portland residents concerned about planned downtown road construction plans on Meridian Street to know that I've been notified of changes scaling down the project. While details are still being finalized, the project will no longer include lane reductions, which many locals did not support. I personally met with other area officials and INDOT to express constituents' concerns. We can now work to strike a better balance and find the best solution for our community."
