STATEHOUSE (Oct. 7, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Reps. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) and J.D. Prescott (R-Union City).
These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. Prescott said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
“With every internship class I've had the pleasure of working with, their skills grew and they made important connections during their time at the Statehouse," Prescott said. "It’s rewarding to see students discover their strengths and how their experience follows them long after the internship ends.”
Lehman said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.
"Internships give students a real advantage in today's job market," Lehman said. "Our program complements classroom learning by offering practical, hands-on experience that helps students strengthen their skills and stand out to future employers."
Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
Interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
