STATEHOUSE (Oct. 21, 2024) – The Oct. 31 deadline to apply for an Indiana House Republican internship during the 2025 legislative session is fast approaching, according to State Reps. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper).
Ledbetter said this full-time, spring semester internship is Monday through Friday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and can gain academic credit through their college or university.
"The internship program is a great opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in the real world," Ledbetter said. "Whether you are looking to have a career in politics or are looking for more experience in the workplace, the Statehouse has a great internship program."
Lindauer said interested college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students and recent graduates of all majors should visit indianahouserepublicans.com/internship to complete the application before Oct. 31.
"The intern program provides many benefits including developing job skills such as professionalism and writing," Lindauer said. "The program offers a behind-the-scenes look at how state government runs and provides networking opportunities with local and state leaders."
Indiana House internships include free parking, career and professional development assistance, and enrollment access to an Indiana government class. Interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
The program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy and communications.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
