STATEHOUSE (July 25, 2025) – State Rep. Kyle Pierce (R-Anderson) is recognizing Anderson High School for recently earning certification from the Indiana Department of Education for its leadership in science, technology, engineering and math education.
"Anderson High School’s achievement reflects a strong commitment to preparing students for the future,” Pierce said. “By focusing on learning inside and outside the classroom, they're helping equip the next generation with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for tomorrow’s jobs.”
The Indiana Department of Education recently announced that 16 new schools across the state earned STEM certification this year, with an additional nine schools renewing their certification and five others designated as developing their STEM curriculum. Indiana launched its STEM Certification Program in 2015 to recognize schools that provide high-quality, integrated learning in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
To receive this designation, schools must offer project-based learning, community engagement opportunities and out-of-school STEM activities that include elements of the humanities and related arts. Certified schools must reapply every five years to maintain their status. To date, more than 100 schools across Indiana have earned this certification.
