STATEHOUSE (Dec. 21, 2021) – Local House Republican lawmakers Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) and J. Michael Davisson (R-Salem) invite constituents to complete the 2022 issue survey to provide feedback ahead of the legislative session starting Jan. 4.
Orange County residents will receive mailed copies of their state representative's issue survey, but can save a stamp and go online now to complete it. To get started, constituents can visit Bartels' website at in.gov/h74 or Davisson's at in.gov/h73 and then click on the red button labeled "Take My Survey."
"This year we'll look at issues ranging from supporting public safety to protecting individual rights," Davisson said. "I’m looking forward to my first session, and your feedback will help me as I consider and vote on new laws."
To complete a member's survey, constituents must be a resident of the district and submit it by the Dec. 31 deadline. The survey questions are intended to reflect issues that may come before the Legislature and should not be interpreted as a reflection of their legislator's views.
Constituents can determine and confirm who their state representative is online by visiting the Indiana General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov, clicking on the "Find Your Legislator" tab and entering their home address. Constituents can then visit indianahouserepublicans.com/members and view their member's webpage to take the survey.
Bartels said the public can participate in the legislative process by completing the survey, testifying in committee and staying connected with their state legislator. Constituents can visit iga.in.gov to watch livestreams of session and committee meetings, view archived meetings, and access meeting calendars and meeting agendas.
"Communicating with constituents is one of my top priorities as a state legislator, which means keeping them informed about state issues and asking for feedback," Bartels said. "There are many ways to share your opinions, and I encourage you to reach out."
Constituents can contact Bartels at h74@iga.in.gov and Davisson at h73@iga.in.gov with questions and comments, or by calling 1-800-382-9841. Hoosiers can also sign up to receive regular email news updates by visiting their member's webpage and entering their email address.
The 2022 legislative session begins in January and must conclude by mid-March.
