STATEHOUSE (Oct. 14, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Reps. Chris May (R-Bedford) and Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty).
These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. May said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
"Through the House internship program, students will work in a professional setting and see how policy impacts Hoosiers," May said. "Participants have the chance to meet and work alongside state leaders on a variety of topics and issue areas."
Bartels said that interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.
"The goal of these internships is creating hands-on experiences working in state government," Bartels said. "We offer the opportunity to work on a wide range of issues and see what a legislative session looks like up close."Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
Interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
