STATEHOUSE (Jan. 16, 2024) – State Rep. Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) recently honored Crown Point resident and former city council member Carol Drasga with the Circle of Corydon Award.

As a former councilor of 20 years, Drasga was integral in several local projects, including public art displays and additional public parking spaces. Because of her work, she was named the 2017 Elected Official of the Year by the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority. Drasga was also a member of the Stewards of the Square, leading efforts to revive downtown Crown Point through fundraisers and beautification projects providing sidewalk planters, light pole hanging baskets and art.

"With so many projects attributed to Carol Drasga, our community and state are incredibly thankful for her dedication and service," Olthoff said. "She invested herself into her community and has made Crown Point a more vibrant city. It's my honor to present her with this much deserved award."

Drasga is an active member of the Lake Court House Foundation Board, Tri Kappa, and P.E.O. International, a philanthropic organization dedicated to celebrating, educating and motivating women.

The Circle of Corydon Award was established by the governor in 2017 to recognize Hoosiers who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana and its people, demonstrating through life and service qualities exemplified by the state’s greatest citizens. This is the only award issued and signed jointly by members of both the executive and legislative branches.
