The Indiana General Assembly has reached halftime of the 2025 legislative session. At this point, the House of Representatives will consider bills that passed the Senate, while they do the same for our bills. I authored a variety of bills covering a wide array of issues, from health care to economic development and furthering sports tourism. Here are the some of the bills I worked on that passed the House: |

I also authored language in the state budget, House Bill 1001, that would increase the amount of money captured from the Evansville Professional Sports and Convention Development Area, which would support local sports tourism. This would be similar to the PSCDAs in Fort Wayne and South Bend. Increasing the revenue cap allows us to invest in sports infrastructure and projects like the revitalization of the downtown riverfront, which attracts visitors from across the tri-state area and supports our local economy and industries. It has the potential of keeping $90 million in revenue in the Evansville area. In 2023, Indiana imported more than $20.8 billion worth of goods from Ireland, making the country Indiana's largest importer. In Indiana there are 53 Irish-based companies located in 24 counties. House Bill 1489, another bill I authored, would create an Indiana-Ireland Trade Commission. This commission could open doors for new business opportunities, encourage investment and bolster our state's position on the global stage. |
