STATEHOUSE (Aug. 26, 2026) – State Rep. Tim O'Brien (R-Evansville) is now accepting nominees for his newly established House District 78 Heart of a Hoosier Award.
The public is invited to nominate any individual residing in House District 78 who goes above and beyond to serve others or strengthen their community.
"Our community is made stronger each day by the kindness, dedication, and generosity of the people who call it home," O'Brien said. "Whether it's lending a helping hand to a neighbor, volunteering in the community, mentoring young people, or simply making a positive difference in the lives of others, these everyday acts deserve to be recognized."
O'Brien said nominees should reflect through their actions the heart of what it means to be a Hoosier. This could be a neighbor, friend, family member, or community leader whose compassion, service, and commitment help make House District 78 a better place to live. Nominees of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

Include the nominee's name, contact information, a brief explanation of why they deserve to be recognized, and at least one reference who can attest to the nominee's impact in the community. Recipients will receive an award certificate and be highlighted in O'Brien's email newsletter.
