STATEHOUSE (Oct. 3, 2023) – Northwest Indiana legislators encourage Hoosier voters to register or check their voting status by the Oct. 10 deadline.

"Voting is an important part of American society and with the upcoming election, Hoosiers have the opportunity to cast their votes," said State Rep. Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron). "Don't wait, the deadline to register to vote is fast approaching."

State Rep. Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) said Hoosiers can visit IndianaVoters.com and quickly access a link to register to vote or check their voter registration record. The state's website also provides voters with local polling locations and who's on their ballot.

"This voting season, Hoosiers have access to so many resources that can prepare them for casting their ballet," Olthoff said. "I encourage everyone to look ahead at upcoming elections, deadlines and registration requirements to better prepare for the polls."

"IndianaVoters.com is the place to find anything related to voting for the state of Indiana," said State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie). "You can find out who's on the ballet and where the best voting location is with just a few clicks."

Hoosiers can also register to vote by visiting a county clerk's office and a directory is available online at in.gov/courts.

State Rep. Hal Slager (R-Schererville) said to register, Indiana residents must be at least 18 years old on or before the upcoming election, have a valid Indiana Driver's License or Indiana State Identification Card, be a citizen of the United States, have lived in the same precinct for at least 30 days before the next election, and not currently imprisoned after being convicted of a crime.

"Voting can be a stressful and confusing time, but Indiana provides several resources to help voters," Slager said. "The Indiana Voters page provides countless resources to research current candidates, past elections and current standing in your area."

"Indiana is a representative Democracy allowing Hoosiers to take part in choosing the next leader of our state," said State Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso). "As citizens, it is essential to understand your voting status and register on the Indiana Voters site."

The voter registration deadline is Oct. 10. Early in-person voting starts Oct. 11. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
