STATEHOUSE (Oct. 6, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Reps. Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron) and Matt Commons (R-Williamsport).
These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. Aylesworth said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
"This internship program is such a great way for students to learn about government in a professional setting," Aylesworth said. "The skills they learn at the Statehouse will guide them through their career for years to come."
Commons said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.
"From participating in legislative meetings to interacting on the House floor with legislators and staff, interns are fully engaged in session," Commons said. "I encourage any student who is interested in government, politics and communications to apply today."
Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
Interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
